Principal's Message

Dear Mariemont Families,

We are the Mariemont Mustangs!

Welcome to a new year for both returning and new families as I am filled with excitement to join such a beautiful school of dedicated staff, students, and families.  Our success builds on the strength of our collaboration among staff, the sense of community we create, and the active participation of our parents. Together, we all contribute to our vibrant and nurturing environment that is essential for fostering both academic and personal growth in our students.

This year, we are committed to deepening our collaborative efforts, enhancing community engagement, and driving academic excellence.  We acknowledge and recognize the unique learning and emotional needs of all our students and strive to provide support for every student in developing academic and social skills, problem solving, and empathy for others through courageous conversations, family and student voice, and inclusive curriculum.

Our staff works closely with students and families to build safe trusting relationships in a positive collaborative school culture where everyone thrives. A supportive and inclusive environment not only enriches the school experience but also strengthens the bonds between students, families, and staff.  This year, we will continue to foster a positive school culture where every member feels valued and connected.   We are committed to meeting the individual needs of all students and maintaining personal connections with all families.  Our teachers are your best resource, so we encourage you to connect and build strong partnerships with your child’s teacher.

Our community welcomes the involvement of parents in school activities and decision-making processes which greatly enhance the educational experience for students. When parents are actively engaged, they bring diverse perspectives and resources that enrich our school. Your contributions, whether through volunteering, participating in PTA events and activities, or supporting classroom functions, create a strong network of engagement that benefits all of us. The collaboration between parents and staff not only bolsters student achievement but also fosters a sense of belonging and shared responsibility.

Our commitment to academic rigor remains steadfast and we are dedicated to providing a challenging and enriching curriculum that inspires our students in their lifelong learning journey.  With an emphasis on inclusive instruction and experiential learning, we firmly believe that if we teach our kids to be empathetic, to look for opportunities of involvement in our community, and to practice how to use their agency, they will be successful.  Mariemont students will flourish in understanding, discovery, and advocacy from a collaborative scope with strong relationships between families and staff.

We invite you to become active participants in our school community by joining our Parent Teacher Association, School Site Council, and volunteering as classroom assistants, field trip coordinators, and lunch supervisors.  Mariemont PTA posts weekly messages that go to families via email called the FLASH. Please visit our sign up page for the FLASH and follow us on Facebook: Mariemont Elementary PTA.  Your partnership with us is essential in creating a positive and enriching experience for our students.

We recognize that not all parents/guardians can visit campus throughout the school day and appreciate the support and guidance you provide for your child at home.  At home, we appreciate families engaging in real time learning moments, regular and timely attendance, and daily reading.

Whether you have questions, concerns, or ideas, please do not hesitate to reach out to me and I look forward to getting to know each of you!  I thank you for the trust, welcome, and opportunity to serve.

On behalf of the entire Mariemont staff, I know this year will be filled with new experiences, memorable moments, and powerful learning!  Positive thoughts forward to a fantastic 24/25 school year!

With love,

Leah Lewandowski
