Principal's Message

26/27 Principal’s Message:

 

Welcome new and returning families to our 26/27 school year of curiosity, challenge, and collaboration. Our mustang spirit runs strong as we embark on another year of learning together and growing together. I am excited and invigorated to experience our year together in a community that supports, inspires, and loves the work we do together for all of our children.

Our year will strongly emphasize the importance of thinking in the classroom.  With the catalyst being our newly adopted district math curriculum, Innovamat- Thinking Math, which will be taught in all classrooms. Innovamat, the company that provides our curriculum named Thinking Math, is a mathematics learning program that combines mathematical reasoning, hands-on experiences, visual models, problem-solving, and practice to help students build a strong understanding of mathematics.  Students will be taught to explore mathematical ideas rather than simply follow a set of steps and through classroom discussions and activities, they will develop strategies, explain their reasoning, and make connections between different mathematical concepts.  Our goal is not simply to change how students do math, but to strengthen how students think about math.

With new goals, renewed energy, and a collectively strong community, we will take on future challenges with resilience and teamwork to ensure our students are supported, safe to take risks, and engaged in their own learning and setbacks.  It is within innovation, that courage leads problem solving and collaboration to try new things and learn from each other.  We are a herd of one and will lead together towards our growth, successes, and achievements.
